Hi Tyler

Me again. The featured artist this year is Luke Pratte from Lafayette, Colorado. His painting “Great Sand Dunes” earned the Peoples’ Choice Award at the 2023 show. The artwork will be on the cover of this year’s rodeo program, official poster, and other promotional material.

Luke is a cancer research scientist by day and a talented artist as well. His artist’s statement is as follows:

“Through my oil paintings, I aim to convey the interconnectedness of the American people and the wildlife of the American West. Within this iconic imagery, I delve into the core values and ideals that have shaped American culture. The cowboys and their way of life serve as an enduring symbol of the American West, embodying qualities such as independence, self-sufficiency, and rugged individualism that continue to be celebrated in our society today. The power and symbolism associated with the cowboy lifestyle have left an indelible mark on our collective consciousness, and it is my intention to capture that essence on canvas. The depiction of people, cows, bison, and other western wildlife serves as a testament to the ingenuity, determination, and resourcefulness that have defined our nation. By capturing the beauty and spirit of the American West, I hope to remind viewers of our shared heritage and the values that continue to shape our society.”

Thanks, Tyler,

Mary Zorn

Hi, Tyler

Please check your email form March 8. I sent three separate emails with the updated information:  featured artist, image, time changes, and the direct URL for artists wishing to apply. I don’t see any of those updates on the website yet. If I need to resend, please let me know.

Thanks so much,

Mary Zorn
