Brush Rodeo Association Foundation Scholarship Policies
1. Scholarships shall be made available to graduating high school seniors of Northeast Colorado, that is, whose school district or any part thereof lies North on Interstate 70 and East of Interstate 25 who will participate in an intercollegiate rodeo sports program.
2. Scholarships shall be for the pursuit of higher education post high school at any accredited college or university, which has an intercollegiate rodeo sports program.
3. Scholarships shall be awarded based on merit and financial need, taking into consideration the following five factors: academic performance in high school, academic potential as measured by standardized tests such as the ACT, community service, aptitude for rodeo as measured by successful participation in events, and financial need. The scholarship committee shall determine the weight to be given to each of the factors.
4. The scholarship committee shall publicize the availability of scholarships in cooperation with all high schools in Northeast Colorado. If a high school published a student handbook, which includes a description of the scholarships available to students, any scholarship offered by the Brush Rodeo Association may be published in such handbook(s) . Information may also be disseminated through high school counselor’s offices for distribution via handouts or other means. In addition to the foregoing the scholarship committee shall use such other means of informing potential recipients as may from time to time be appropriate and effective.
5. All scholarships shall be paid directly to the institution of higher learning, conditional on the student’s enrollment/attendance and conditional on the student’s participation in an intercollegiate rodeo program. Scholarships may be renewable for four years provided the recipient maintains eligibility and continued participation in the rodeo program (except in the case of injury). If a student does not maintain eligibility and participation in the rodeo program, the institution and/or student will be requested to refund the monies, as appropriate. Under these circumstances, it is unlikely that a misuse of funds will occur. However, if it should, demand for repayment will be made to appropriate individual or institution and the board may take legal action if deemed necessary.
6. Scholarship application deadline is May 16, 2025. The scholarship will be awarded July 1st in Brush, CO. The foundation would like the recipient to attend the festivities and receive the scholarship.
